Hawaii - State flower: The Hibiscus Taro Biscuits - Makes 16 small biscuits1 cup mashed cooked taro Combine the cold taro and fat in a mixing bowl. When thoroughly blended, add the dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Blend the ingredients with a pastry blender or two knives. Add the beaten egg and milk and mix thoroughly. Place dough on slightly floured board or Roul'pat and pat it with fingers to a thickness of ½ inch. Cut the dough with a slightly floured biscuit cutter, place biscuits on a lightly floured pan or Exopat baking mat. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in a preheated 450º oven. |
