Apple Brown Betty - Serves 6

¼ cup melted butter
1-½ cups soft bread crumbs
3 cups tart apples, diced
2/3 cup brown sugar
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/3 cup water

Add melted butter to bread crumbs. Combine apples, sugar, salt and cinnamon. Place a layer of buttered crumbs in the bottom of a buttered casserole. Add a layer of apples and another of crumbs. Continue these alternating layers; the last layer should be one of crumbs. Combine lemon juice and water, pour over the mixture. Bake at 350º for 1 hour.
