Whole Wheat Nut Bread

1-½ cups milk
½ cup honey
1 cup flour
2-½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2/3 tsp baking soda
2 cups whole wheat flour
¾ cup chopped English walnuts (butternuts) or black walnuts

In a bowl combine milk and honey. In another bowl sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and baking soda; add the whole wheat flour and stir in the milk mixture. Add the nuts and combine well.

Line a buttered loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3", with wax paper and butter the paper. Pour in the batter and bake in a preheated, very slow, oven at 275º for 2 hours. Turn bread out on a rack and let it cool completely.
