Pennsylvania Dutch Pepper Slaw - Serves 6 to 8

2 qt. cabbage, cut up
1 onion
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 pt. white vinegar
2-½ cups sugar
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp mustard seed
1 tsp salt

Place cabbage in large bowl. Peel, grate onion. Cut peppers in half, remove seeds, dice. Add onion and peppers to cabbage. Combine vinegar, sugar turmeric, celery seed, mustard seed and salt in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Pour dressing over the cabbage mixture, mixing well. Cool; store in refrigerator.
