South Dakota - State flower: American Pasque Fattigmands - Makes 48 cookies3 egg yolks Beat together in a large bowl the eggs, whipping cream and vanilla or brandy until they are nicely blended. Beat in sugar; gradually add flour and making stiff dough. On a lightly floured board or Roul'pat, roll out half the dough to 1/16" thickness. Cut dough into 4: x 2" diamonds. Cut a lengthwise slit down center of each diamond. Pull one end through slit to make a bow or twist. In a deep pan, heat oil to 375º. Fry twists for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. When cool, dust with confectioners' sugar. |
