Buttermilk Biscuits with Jalapeno Jelly - Serves 4 to 6

2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
4 Tbsp Shortening
½ tsp soda
1 cup buttermilk

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add soda to milk and beat until the mixture foams. Stir into other ingredients and mix quickly. Toss on a lightly floured board or Roul'pat, roll gently, cut into rounds and bake for 12 minutes in a 425º oven.

Jalapeno Jelly is now available in most good grocery stores. Serve to be spread on biscuits as jelly.
