Spiced Nut Corn Bread - Serves 6

½ cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp allspice
¼ tsp nutmeg
½ cup white corn meal
½ cup pecans, finely chopped
1 egg, beaten
½ cup milk
2 Tbsp butter, melted

Preheat oven to 400º. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg together into bowl. Add cornmeal, pecans; mix well. Stir in egg, milk and Tbsp butter; blend well. Place remaining butter in a 7-inch iron skillet. Place skillet in oven until hot; brush butter evenly on sides and bottom of skillet. Add batter; return to oven at once. Bake for 30 minutes or until bread tests done. Cut into wedges; serve immediately.
